WHAT'S SHAKIN'What's Shakin': 2008 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004
July 10, 2008Here's what's shakin' people. If you were at the last couple of shows you were sure to notice some new faces on the stage. We've had to weather a minor storm as of late. First, the backbone of the band and my "brother from another mother," David Gilbert, has been experiencing some pretty major back issues, so he hasn't been able to play drums (or do much else for that matter), so he was forced to take some time off and get himself well. And I'm quite happy to report that he's this close (my thumb and forefinger are really close together) to coming back! He won't be with us at the August 22nd show but he will be after that. So in the meantime we've been lucky to have our friend Ben Banning to fill in for him at the shows. Ben is a great guy and a great drummer. So when you see him at the next show be sure and thank him, and maybe buy him a drink. So if you noticed Ben then you also noticed a different guitar player. Unfortunately, my "other brother from another mother," Mike Skalko, left the band for personal reasons. Although this really sucks for all of us, we remain close friends with him and hope he returns some day. So if you see him around, tell him you miss him and ask when he's coming back. If we hassle him enough he'll get tired of hearing it and come back. In his absence, my very good friend Ed Jamieson has been filling in for the shows. Ed and I have been friends for a long time and it's great to play with him. So say hello to him at the next show. He's way cool, and one hell of a guitar player. We're all glad to have him! Oh yeah, I almost forgot. We're submitting one of our original tunes, "Accommodations" to 94HJY's "Soundcheck." They're running a contest to find cool local bands. They're going to ask their listeners to vote for their favorite songs. The top four bands will play a showcase at JamStage in Pawtucket. So listen to HJY for details or check out WHJY. com. That's all for now. Hope to see you at the next show. Peace,
February 18, 2008GONG XI FA CAI! (Happy New Year) Here's what's shakin' I recently got back from Malaysia, and got back to work with the band on the originals that have been coming fast and furious! February 16, we did a gig with Chelsy Lau and The Bad Bad Leroy Browns at The Blackstone in Pawtucket. The new location is very cool, and the set of mostly originals went rather well. Check out the photos, courtesy of our new friend Bruce on his MySpace page. I'm sure everyone's sick of hearing about us hitting the recording studio, but we keep talking about it. I think it should be soon. Our next show will be at Balls Sports bar in Cranston on February 29, our first leap day show I believe, so don't miss it! Hopefully well see you there! That's it for now.
